AB InBev Sustainability Leaders Visit Uganda to Support Barley Farmers

We had the pleasure of hosting Nicholas Mylet, the AB InBev Global Sustainable Agriculture Director, and Alyssa Jooste, the AB InBev Africa Sustainability Manager, during their visit to Uganda.

They took the time to visit various locations with our Country Agricultural Service Lead, Joseph Luzinda, such as Barawa Buying Centre in and Teryet in Kapchorwa. Together with our Agriculture Development Extension Officers and the Corporate Affairs team, they engaged with local barley farmers.

Their journey continued to Kapnarkut Buying Centre in Kween District, where they explored the SABBI trials site. The visit culminated with a trip to Elgon Radio Kapchorwa 95.4 FM, where they supported our Extension Officer Team as they imparted invaluable knowledge on barley agronomy, covering topics such as site selection, land preparation, effective weed control methods, and comprehensive pest and disease management strategies.

During their stay in Uganda, Nicholas and Alyssa demonstrated a deep commitment to supporting our Smart Agriculture commitments by engaging with the local farming communities and sharing their expertise in sustainable agriculture practices. Their visit not only provided valuable insights for the barley farmers in Kapchorwa and Kween District but also highlighted Nile Breweries and AB InBev’s dedication to promoting agricultural sustainability in Africa.

Overall, Nicholas Mylet and Alyssa Jooste’s visit to Uganda was not only educational but also inspirational for the local farming communities. Their dedication to advancing sustainable agriculture aligns perfectly with AB InBev’s mission of fostering positive change through responsible business practices.
