We are proud to join hands with Promote Uganda, Rotary Club of Kampala Central, and the Ministry of Water and Environment, as a key partner in the 3rd edition of the Run for the Nile Marathon.
Set to take place on March 22nd (World Water Day) at the Jinja Rugby Grounds, this event will bring together participants from across the globe in support of safeguarding Lake Victoria and the River Nile from pollution and environmental degradation.
As a company committed to improving water quality and quantity in our communities, this partnership aligns with our sustainability goals of protecting vital water sources like Lake Victoria and the River Nile. Through this marathon, we are supporting community-led conservation efforts, including tree planting, cleanup campaigns, and educational programs to safeguard our shared water resources.
This year, the event aims to raise UGX 260 million to:
– Establish waste trap gates on 10 more channels to prevent plastic pollution in our water bodies
– Set up two additional tree nurseries in schools to support afforestation efforts
– Support other sustainability initiatives that protect our vital water sources
With over 10,000 participants expected, this marathon is a powerful reminder that collective action is key to ensuring clean, safe water for future generations.
🎽 Join us on World Water Day for a 5km, 10km, or 21km run—every step you take contributes to protecting Africa’s longest river and most iconic lake.
