NBL sends more rural kids to top O-level schools

Nile Breweries Limited has this year enabled 12 more poor pupils from rural primary schools to join secondary schools.

The twelve pupils are the latest beneficiaries of Nile Breweries “Equality Scholarship,” which has been running since 2011.

Under the scholarship, the company sponsors bright pupils from rural primary schools to study in the prestigious secondary schools. They are selected from schools in communities that grow sorghum and barley, which Nile Breweries uses to make beer.

“This scholarship underscores our commitment to the communities we work with,” said Onapito-Ekomoloit, the Nile Breweries Corporate Affairs Director.

“The pioneers of the scholarship are expected to sit for their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations by close of 2016.”
