Ministry of Health started the vaccination process for Ugandans March 10th with the vaccine choice of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine availed to Uganda under the COVAX facility and the Government of India. The team of medical personnel from the ministry spear headed by Buikwe District medical team will this week administer the vaccine to interested and eligible staff in an effort to make the vaccine more accessible to staff. This is a continuation of our commitment to support interventions to stop the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. At NBL we believe in safety first and are committed to promotion of health and safety of our staff, customers and our communities. We applaud all the efforts of the Ministry of Health to keep Ugandans safe since the pandemic broke out.

Early last year, the company donated 4000 kilograms of maize meal to communities in localities of our breweries to supplement government food donations to cushion the effect of the lockdown on the communities. Most recently, in collaboration with our industry peer, we donated medical equipment worth UGX60M to the Intensive Care Unit in Uganda’s main hospital, Mulago Hospital to supplement the government’s efforts to improve the quality of health services amid the #COVID19 pandemic. NBL’s interventions spread to ensuring that its operations strictly follow the COVID-19 SOPs stipulated. “We will continue supporting government especially when the bars are reopened to ensure safety of our customers,” Onapito Ekomoloit, Legal & Corporate Affairs Director said. The company together with industry peers have already submitted proposals to the Ministry of Health on how safety and health of customers can be ensured when bars start operating again and also acquired point of sales materials for bars such as counter shields among others, that will ensure that both the bar owners and customers can observe SOPs like social distancing. We believe all hands need to be on deck to put an end to the COVID-19 pandemic that has had devastating impact the world over.
