Nile Breweries staff took to spreading the gospel on Smart drinking as the beer leader Nile Breweries commemorated the Global Smart Drinking Week. The company created the Beer Oath, to challenge the public to be smart drinkers. According to Clare Asiimwe, Sustainability Manager NBL, the toast celebrates beer with a promise to drink it responsibly and not ruin “the beer experience”. “Our staff will lead consumers in making the toast that we call smart drinker’s toast, in an interesting way as they enjoy our beers,” she said. “We call upon the public to join us to be champions of Smart drinking as we reaffirm our commitment towards the cause beyond our company walls and out into the communities where we live and work. Let us create a world with more Cheers,” she added.
Smart Drinking has become a part of NBL and parent company AB InBev’s culture. It relates to championing many specific behaviours and social norms that encompass smart drinking and aim to make every experience with beer a positive one. The Global Smart Drinking week started on September 13th and will end on 17th. NBL is reechoing the message of smart drinking sensitizing the public on responsible behavior on all its platforms and educating them on how best to consume its beers. You can be a Smart drinker by doing this; discourage underage drinking, alcohol consumption by pregnant women or drink driving and discouraging intoxicating practices, such as binge drinking. Space your beers with water and ensure that you eat before or as you drink your beer. Always pace your consumption of alcohol.
