URA awards NBL

Nile Breweries Limited was on December 6, morning recognized for its role as one of the leading revenue contributors in Uganda 2018 by the Uganda Revenue Authority “Not only is Nile Breweries currently the leading tax payer in the brewery industry, but also ranks among the top three revenue contributors in Uganda. We are here to appreciate the company for not only this, but also other critical roles it plays in our economy,” said Mr Silagi Kanyesigye, Assistant commissioner Large Taxpayer Office (LTO) Domestic Taxes. He added that Nile Breweries’ use of locally grown raw materials to produce its beers has greatly supported the economy and local peasant. “More people can now have disposable income. The expansion to have two plants in the country has also led to increase in employment.”  Nile Breweries operates a plant in Jinja and Mbarara.

Thomas Kamphuis, NBL Country Director Uganda & Sudan, welcomed the gesture, and expressed the continuous effort by NBL to build good relations with its stake holders like URA, one of the biggest. The event took place in a closed meeting at Nile Breweries main office in Luzira, Kampala. It was attended by URA team- Nicholas Karyeija, Client Relations Manager, Nile Breweries account, John Katungwesi Tinka, Manager Domestic Taxes and Gloria Alum, Public and Corporate Affairs office. Representing NBL were Thomas Kamphuis, Country Director, Eunice Muheirwe, Head of finance, Onapito Ekomoloit, Legal & Corporate Affairs Director & Flora Aduk, Communications Manager.
